Annual School Appeal 2012

Annual School Appeal 2012

Every year, we come to you for our Annual School Appeal, knowing you have a soft heart for children who attend St. Anastasia Catholic School and whose families are having a difficult time fulfilling their financial obligations. In spite of hardships, our parents are morally committed to giving their children a Catholic education that will prepare them for a better future.

Annually, the Development Board has an obligation to subsidize the school $55,000 to help with its operating budget. In addition, needy families are provided tuition assistance. Last year, we gave tuition assistance, ranging from $500 to $1,000 to 35 families. This year, it has increased to 40 families. We don’t see the economic situations of parents getting any better in the near future. Some are still trying to find ways to keep their children in our school.

One of our parishioners, Ms. Jamie O’Meara, who is a past president of our Parish Finance Council, said in one of her meetings. “I don’t have any children, but I support the children of St. Anastasia because they are my future.”  True to her word, she not only continues to support the parish and school financially, but she also volunteers as a catechist in our Religious Education Program.

This Appeal, in addition to the subsidy and tuition assistance, supports the school so the teachers may continue to dedicate themselves to the students of St. Anastasia with passion and sincere commitment. They want to continue their mission here to advance with the excellent academic education and strong Catholic teachings for our children.

There are testimonials that attest to the quality of education we provide at St. Anastasia Catholic School. For example, two alumni from the Class of 2010 are recipients of four year scholarships to benefit college education. Similarly, an alumnus of the Class of 2005 and one from the Class of 2007 are now at Stanford University and Kenyon College, respectively, and are also recipients of such four year scholarships.

Therefore, with God’s graces, we are appealing to your heartfelt generosity so that our children will continue to stay in our school, for a better future for them and for society as a whole. Please be generous in your response to our Annual Appeal. Included herewith is a response card. You may establish the method by which you wish to make your payment.

On behalf of our entire parish, I thank you for your positive response.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Aloysius M. Funtila

Pastor

Families Honored at Garden Ceremony

Judith Camarto for the Kerley Family A recent ceremony in our Garden for Reflection and Prayer honored three special St. Anastasia families for their lifetime commitments to St. Anastasia School. Pastor Aloysius Funtila presided in the short morning ceremony attended by students, teacher and parents.

Fr. Aloy presented Judith Camarto with a framed letter of appreciation in memory of her parents, Don and Ginny Kerley. A paver was then installed in the Garden with a dedication that reads:

The Students of St. Anastasia School thank the Kerley Family for their generosity and leadership

Also honored at the ceremony were the Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Merkel Family, and the Mr. and Mrs. James Ratajczyk Family.

Engraved paver stones have been installed in the Garden to honor the contributions of both families.

"These three families have supported the children of St. Anastasia School over many decades with the contribution of their time, talent and treasure, " said Aloy. "Their long-term support has made a Catholic education possible for countless children."
